Limited to 20 participants at a special introductory price that may not be offered again.  The not-for-profit Harris County Health Information Cooperative (HCHIC) is sponsoring an intensive, vendor-neutral Introduction to WorldVistA EHR System Administration three day education event.  10% of the proceeds benefit the not-for-profit 501c3 WorldVistA organization with the rest of the proceeds benefiting the not-for-profit HCHIC's mission to unify Health IT in the fourth largest city in the United States.

Audience: Would-be implementers and systems administrators of the Veterans Affairs (VA) VistA or WorldVistA Electronic Health Record software.  This education conference is intended for technical and support personnel.  It is NOT intended for end users.  

Prerequisites: Prior knowledge of computers or computer support such as experience as a system administrator or computer science or related degree is required. Laptop required as course includes some hands-on training. Internet connectivity by wired or wireless will be provided.

Educational Goals: Installation and configuration of a reasonably useful WorldVistA EHR system. Student will know how to download the VistA Demo Appliance and configure selected parts of VistA and CPRS. Note: the Demo Appliance is used for educational purposes only. Installation in a live site should not be implemented using only the Appliance. Extensive educational materials will be provided on CD at the conference.

Cost: $900 contribution. $855 may be tax deductible by IRS rules. Breakfast and lunch by The French Corner included. Dinner cost is not included. This is a special introductory price that may not be offered again. Enroll by credit card below.

Instructors: David Whitten, Senior Software Specialist Michael E. Debakey Veterans Affairs Hospital, CTO WorldVistA, Board of Directors Harris County Health Information Cooperative. Todd Reich has worked for the V.A. Hospital for 16 years.  His experiences include being a Clinical Application Coordinator (CAC) and a trainer of VistA clinical applications with a focus on CPRS (Computerized Patient Rocord System) for physicians, nurses, and administrative personnel.

Staff: Rick Trotter holds a Bachelors in Computer Science from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Rick has been instrumental in creating the course materials and answering important fundamental questions.
